Enchanting and unique, this 200-year-old converted olive mill is situated on a beautiful 9-acre olive estate. The property has views over rich olive groves, vineyards and cypress tree-lined roads. In 2015 the estate’s owner converted this beautiful olive mill into an extraordinary luxury villa with high-end amenities, and it is now available as a vacation rental for 12 guests. The Frantoio is privately situated amid the Compitese hills near Lucca, an area famed for producing one of the best extra virgin olive oils in Italy. Until the late 1960s the Frantoio was a working olive estate and mill employing many local villagers. The estate has gradually and carefully been brought back to life. The olive groves which are organic now once again produce the excellent extra virgin olive oil which you can taste during your stay in the villa. Additionally, we have a vineyard and herb garden. The Frantoio is a most charming, warm and welcoming home retaining many original features yet it still provides all the modern comforts. Beautifully furnished and well appointed throughout the interiors have been carefully chosen to complement the building and yet are contemporary, chic and stylish. Air-conditioned bedrooms, central heating, Sonos music system, TV (SKY), wi-fi throughout the house, large and luxurious main living room with cosy wood burner for cooler evenings, selection of DVDs, CDs, books, board games, maps, local information pack with dining recommendations and Tuscany guide books. The bathrooms are all individual and have been fitted with artisan handmade bathroom vanity units, marble surfaces, stone sinks, marble and stone showers and two have roll top copper baths. There are 3 suites each comprising a double bedroom, en-suite bathroom and separate sitting room (Da Vinci sitting room can be used as a separate computer/TV or study room), 2 twin rooms with en-suite bathroom and 1 double room with en-suite bathroom. 2 additional cloakrooms, one on each main living floor. The bedrooms are all light and spacious, top quality fine white Egyptian cotton bed linen, feather mattress toppers and comfortable pocket spring mattresses ensure a luxuriously comfortable sleep. Other rooms include the computer room/study which can be used separately or as a sitting room for Da Vinci suite, wine room/cellar with supply of wine (extra charge), formal dining hall, laundry room with sink, Miele washing machine and tumble dryer, iron and ironing board and clothes drying racks. The villa has two large well equipped kitchens with doors leading onto dining terraces, both have American Style fridge freezers, dishwashers, hobs and top quality kitchen equipment. The main kitchen also has two double steam Miele ovens, a Nespresso coffee machine, Bialetti Moka, American Filter coffee machine and Bialetti French Coffee press, electric kettle and large toaster. Tea, sugar, coffee, salt, pepper and other store cupboard essentials are supplied. The main kitchen has been architecturally designed as a chefs 'teaching' kitchen with chestnut beams, handmade chestnut kitchen units and large table, Carrara marble feature sink and stainless steel work surface. The Tuscan Summer kitchen has a dining table and chairs, antique stone sink, microwave, Nespresso coffee machine, Smeg fridge/freezer, 5 burner hob and dishwasher. It is an ideal place to enjoy a light lunch or to prepare light meals for the pool or garden terrace. There are several dining areas to choose from including the main kitchen or the atmospheric dining hall which has been created in the original olive press room complete with 200 year old olive grinding stones. Outdoor areas for dining and relaxation include the pool area, a large dining terrace with a 12 seat table which is shaded by a pergola with climbing jasmine, a herb garden and barbecue area, the summer kitchen dining terrace with two tables and chairs. There is also a wonderful reading spot amongst the olive trees! The stunning 10mtr x 6 mtr swimming pool with feature shallow pool surround is perfect for young children and has been created from the original mill pond. The pool overlooks the villa to the olive groves and valley below. The landscaped lawns and terracotta paved areas have sunbeds and umbrellas to relax and enjoy the amazing panoramic views. A stone waterfall with pond set into the hillside complements this most unique and idyllic setting. Pool towels are provided. We recommend walks through surrounding olive groves and woodland to local villages (Castelvecchio di Compito 2km and Buti a hilly 7km) on trails from our doorstep. There are many good local restaurants which we can recommend and arrange a booking. The property managers live seperately on the estate in an independent property. We do not interact with guests unless there are any needs. There are many walking and mountain bike trails from the property. Bientina, the nearest large town (5km) has an Olympic swimming pool, tennis courts, shops of all types, cafes, Coop supermarket, restaurants and pizzerias. Buti (7 km) by woodland trail or 10 mins by car has restaurants, cafes and shops, Castelvecchio di Compito lower village (25 mins by woodland walk or 5 min short drive by car) has a bar and restaurant, Lucca (20 mins by car) has every amenity, Pontedera (12k) a large working town is the nearest train station for travel to Pisa (20 mins) or Florence (45mins). Thermal spas within 30 to 40 mins drive in Montecatini and Monsummano, Bagni di Lucca, Casciana Terme, San Guiliano Terme or the famous Bagno Vignoni Terme in Val D'Orcia is 120 mins.
