Summary: After reading reviews for this glorious 1000 year old hotel, I was so excited to visit. There was talk of walls having cracks, people moving in and out of doors labeled "do not enter", and dimly lit hallways. When I got to the hotel I got exactly what I was expecting a wonderfully maintained 1000 year old hotel. The staff were the most friendly Italian hotel staff I have ever encountered and I loved getting to stay in such a historic structure. Parts of this hotel are 1000 years old, it will not look like American hotels. It is 1000 years old. And it is wonderful to get to see that character in the building. (And yes as a former hotel employee, there are some doors employees use that they mark as "do not enter" for the general public). This hotel made us wish we allocated more time for Pisa on our trip. I highly recommend.
